Safe Work/Safe Workers:
A Curriculum for Teaching High School Students about Occupational Safety and Health
About one out of every 20 teenage workers is injured on the job each year, nearly twice the rate of adults. One out of every 60 teenage workers is injured seriously enough to require emergency room treatment. The RIght Safe Coalition, a Rhode Island-based group of government and private organizations involved in workplace safety and health, invites you to a free curriculum and train-the-trainer session designed for educators in programs which assist teens in the transition to adulthood such as Family and Consumer Science and School-to-Career.

Identifying Hazards on the Job
Controlling Hazards: Preventing Teen Work Injuries

The training will be conducted by the Institute for Labor Studies and Research, the Rhode Island office of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and the Education Unit of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training. Participants will receive a folder of classroom materials, a video and powerpoint presentation.
